Security this week: Google Audio

I’m Brian, the Information Security Officer at Wave.

Part of my role here at Wave is to stay up to date with all of the most important security news. Now, I’ll be going beyond educating the Wave team, and share my findings with the entire Wave community. This information will help keep business owners everywhere safe.

I’ll be sharing my findings on a weekly basis. It’s a quick read full of information that’ll keep you informed, up to date, and even entertained!

Now for the fun stuff!!

Did you know that Google keeps all of the recordings taken when you talk to it? You can even hear all of your saved audio inputs (you’ll need to open this link in a browser where you’re logged in to your personal Google account).

You can learn more about this in the full article.

Why this matters to you:

  • Google has a recording of a lot of content you might not be aware of. If “Ok Google” ever comes up in your conversations, your phone will immediately start recording.
  • You can use the above page to delete your history.
  • There’s other history too! Where you’ve been, what you’ve searched, and more.

That’s it for this week!
